GHAFES Students' Ministry still thrives

Dear Beloved Partner-In-Christ,

May the Peace of God be with You!

The Board and Management of the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES) have not relented in following with keen interest the COVID-19 pandemic with its resultant consequences on the socio-economic and religious life of our country. What is your story? Kindly click here to share your experience and how you have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and how we may pray and be of help to you.

We, however, want to encourage YOU to hold on to Philippians 4:6, 7: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

At the backdrop of the directives of the President of the Republic, we issued a compliance directive to all GHAFES fellowships to suspend central (i.e. large) meetings and resort to meeting at the Contact Family Groups (Cell Groups) level with the number of participating students not exceeding six (6) for the next four weeks. However, with the subsequent complete closure of schools, Management had devised creative ways to still ensure that GHAFES Local Fellowship members are still ministered to while at home. The following are some of the innovative ways the ministry has adopted in the interim;

a. To use students’ WhatsApp pages as official platforms to reaching out to Local Campus Fellowship members;

b. To put members of each Local Fellowship into small groups of not more than five (5) to be led by an executive member who will help to coordinate the affairs of the group. This is to further help encourage and strengthen our leader-member discipleship/mentorship relationships;

c. To run discipleship programmes as follows;

i. Bible Study Discussions
A five (5) Lesson Bible Study Outline, adopted from our sister fellowship in the UK (UCCF) has been circulated to leaders to help with weekly Bible study discussions.

ii. Bible Reading Promotion & Discussions
Students are encouraged to read through the Gospel of Mark. This is to help stimulate transformation in their lives as they encounter the person and the work of Jesus Christ.

iii. Prayer Meetings
Prayer Secretaries, under the supervision of Campus Ministry Coordinators (CMCs), are to send daily prayer bulletins to the leaders’ WhatsApp page for sharing to the small groups.

iv. Sharing of Daily Inspirational/Motivational Quotes & Messages
The office is sharing daily Bible verse/inspirational/motivational quotes (called the GHAFES Voice of Hope and Peace) to encourage members of the fellowship in these times of great uncertainty.

d. Zonal Student National Executive Committee Congress (i.e. Zonal SNEC Congress) will be done online.

Together We Stand
I would like to assure our Associates and Partners that Management and Staff of GHAFES are employing strategic yet efficient means of reaching out to our students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, more especially in this difficult time. We are also committed to keeping in touch with Partners through prayer, communication, and to share with you Scriptures of Hope and Peace and ministry impact stories.

These are not normal times… I want to implore You – our cherished Partner, to connect and stand with one another and also with US and be the source of blessing by giving support to keep the ministry going. 1st Peter 4: 10 says, “God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you”.
