The search for the new General Secretary of GHAFES is finally ended!
The Executive Council on the night of the 10th September, 2009 accepted the recommendation from the Search Committee to appoint Mr. Victor Kow Abaka Obeng as the new 'GS'. He will takeover from Rev. Emmanuel Ahlijah who has served in this position for more than six years with effect from 1st November 2009. Before his appointment Victor has been serving as the Training Secretary of the Cape Coast/Winneba zone.
Victor had his Ordinary and Advanced Level education at St. Charles Secondary School and Tamale Secondary School respectively. He then trained as a teacher at Wesley College, Kumasi and went on for a Dip. Ed and B. Ed, both in Mathematics Education at the University College of Education, Winneba. He also has a MA Theology, Missions and Culture from Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission and Culture at Akropong, Akuapim.
Victor joined GHAFES as a pioneer staff for the Northern Zone in September 2002. He is the only staff who has served in all the four zones. He had served as Training Secretary in charge of Fund Mobilization in Accra. Later he was sent to supervise the work in Kumasi Zone and finally posted to Cape Coast to consolidate the work there.
Victor is also an Elder and a member of the Church board of the World Miracle Church at Mankesim. He has passion for the youth and evangelism. He is married to Esi Sekyeraa Obeng, an English tutor and a Guidance and Counseling Coordinator at Mfantsiman Girls' High School.
